I just realized that I don't post nearly enough death metal on this blog. Shame on me - I love death metal! In an effort to rectify this egregious error, I present you with Internal Putrefaction. With a discography limited to just two demos (What Prophets Fortold being the second), this group, despite their named, excelled in writing melodic death/doom. Now, try not to get too caught up in the melodic prefix; they are still very much a death metal band. Throughout the entirety of the demo they display the raw brutality of death metal at the time, with their melodic side mostly manifesting itself  within their slower more atmospheric sections. The production is terrible in a great way, accentuating the filth of the heavier parts and the atmosphere of the slower parts. Occasionally the band will throw in some cleans, and choral chants; well, "throw" may be a bit misleading. This set of songs was definitely meticulously structured, and is surprisingly mature for group still in its demo stages. This is a great listen, so don't sleep on it!

Seemingly forgotten among the slew of releases of the last couple of years is this osdm gem from Holland's very own Entrapment.  The acid test for this will always be, "do you like Entombed/Nihilist?" if you do then you can't go far wrong checking this out. This is just great osdm that pays homage to the great Swedish death metal scene and reeks of skeletal remains and purifying corpses.  Nothing else to say other than check this out.  Zombifying soultearing death metal!

Demonic Sacrifice - Enter The Realm of Pure Darkness (1997)

I'm so totally stoked that I found a link for this to share with you guys - ever since the downfall of the almighty Megaupload and Mediafire faggin' it up by taking down almost every link known to man, I thought this release would be lost in the annals of history forever. Luckily, I was wrong. Demonic Sacrifice is an old school death metal band from New York who specialized in super groovy, beatdown-form of the genre. Think Suffocation but less technical. That may sound like a bad thing but it isn't - instead of pouring their talents into righteous technicality, these guys just pummel the living fuck out of you for 10 tracks.
